SMB Communications Monthly Small Business Giveaway — Official Rules (English)
1. Sponsor and correspondence
The sponsor and contest organizer is 1001115443 ONTARIO INC., operating as SMB Communications (the “Sponsor”), 184 Fieldside Road, Allenford, Ontario N0H 1A0, Canada. Contest correspondence may be addressed to the Sponsor at this address. Privacy inquiries: privacy@tryvoip.ca.
2. No purchase necessary; who may enter
NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. Making a purchase, becoming an SMB Communications customer, or accepting promotional contact does not improve the chance of winning. Existing customers may enter on the same terms.
An entrant must be a business actively operating in Canada (including Quebec) with 1–10 employees at the time of entry, represented by an individual who has reached the age of majority in their province or territory of residence and has authority to enter on the business's behalf. The Sponsor may require reasonable evidence of business operation, employee count, representative authority and eligibility. The sponsor, contest administrators, anyone materially involved in choosing a winner and their related or controlled business entities are excluded. An enterprise that has been awarded a prize in this contest in the preceding 24 months may not win again. False or duplicate business identities may be disqualified following documented review.
A selected business must have a qualifying Canadian service address where SMB Communications can lawfully and technically provide the awarded VoIP service; this service-coverage condition is checked before award, not a guarantee of service merely because a business may enter from anywhere in Canada. An incorrect coverage assessment may be reviewed and corrected using objective service-availability records. For prize fulfillment, coverage review must document (i) a verified Canadian civic service address, (ii) the availability of a supported Canadian telephone number and carrier/service routing for the address, (iii) successful verification and provisioning capability for VoIP 9-1-1 at that address, and (iv) access to suitable Internet and compatible equipment obtained from any provider. A rejected candidate may request manual review of the factual availability result without charge.
3. How to enter and verify an entry
During an announced entry period, complete the official online entry form, including your business and authorized representative information, province/territory, employee count, business email and phone, and acceptance of these Rules. Only one active entry per business per campaign is permitted. Related businesses may be reviewed to confirm whether they are genuinely distinct legal/operating entities; merely changing an email address does not create a new eligible business.
A verification link will be sent to the supplied business email. An entry is eligible for draws only after email verification, and entries that are withdrawn, found ineligible or disqualified do not participate. Email-verification links expire 48 hours after being issued. An entry submitted near the closing time may be verified within that 48-hour window, but must be verified before the draw to be eligible for that draw. Unverified entries are not eligible; a verified nonwinning entry remains eligible for future draws under the carryover rules. The Sponsor may request reasonable further information from a selected entrant. No purchase or optional marketing opt-in is required.
Marketing email consent and marketing telephone consent are separate, optional, unchecked choices, not conditions of entry. Consent to contest administration messages is limited to operating this contest and does not enroll anyone in marketing.
4. Contest dates, carryover and odds
The first entry period opens November 1, 2026 at 12:00 a.m. Toronto time and closes immediately before December 1, 2026 at 12:00 a.m. Toronto time (the last eligible instant is November 30, 2026 at 11:59:59 p.m.). The first draw for that period is December 7, 2026.
The initial campaign has 12 monthly entry periods, November 2026 through October 2027, with one potential prize for each month with at least one eligible entry. All times are local Toronto time (EST/EDT as applicable). Each monthly period opens at 12:00 a.m. on its first day and closes immediately before 12:00 a.m. on the first day of the next month. The final entry period closes immediately before November 1, 2027 at 12:00 a.m. Any further campaign requires separately announced rules and dates. The draw dates below use the fifth business day after month-end, excluding weekends and the published Sponsor holiday dates (Jan 1, Jul 1, Aug 2 and Sep 6, 2027). These campaign and drawing dates were confirmed by the Sponsor for the 2026–2027 campaign.

Eligible nonwinning entries carry over automatically for at most 12 monthly drawings in total, including their first eligible drawing (not 12 additional drawings). A withdrawn, disqualified, expired or already winning entry is not carried over. Participation in future drawings depends on the contest continuing and the published schedule. One prize is awarded per monthly draw for which an eligible candidate exists. There is no geographic allocation or reserved provincial prize. The odds of selection depend on the total number of verified eligible entries in the applicable draw, including carried-over entries, and will therefore vary.
5. Random selection and alternate candidates
The Sponsor randomly selects a potential winner from a recorded snapshot of eligible entries after the period closes and on or after the scheduled drawing date. The system records the eligible count, the draw selection and audit information. Selection is conditional: a business is not a confirmed winner until the requirements below are met. If no eligible entries exist, no winner can be selected for that period, and the Sponsor will publish the outcome.
If the initially selected business declines, does not respond in time, fails eligibility or service-coverage verification, does not correctly complete the legally required skill-testing question, or declines necessary service terms, the Sponsor may select the next eligible alternate from the same draw's eligible pool, excluding previously selected candidates, using the reviewed auditable alternate process. Each potential alternate receives its own notification and response period. No substitute cash prize or service is offered.
6. Prize and approximate value
Each monthly confirmed winner receives one Small Office VoIP service subscription for 12 consecutive months, with an approximate regular retail value of CAD $308.88 before applicable taxes for one included business phone number, comprising CAD $299.88 for Small Office (12 × $24.99) and CAD $9.00 for its E911 Emergency Access Fee (12 × $0.75). Promotional-discount classification for the base Small Office service confirmed by the Sponsor's accountant (as reported by the Sponsor), subject to final legal review and approved customer invoice wording. The Sponsor has also approved pre-tax promotional treatment of the separate E911 waiver as an operational billing policy, subject to independent accounting and final legal confirmation: The prize is a vendor-funded, non-reimbursable promotional discount of CAD $24.99 applied to the regular CAD $24.99 monthly Small Office service fee before GST/HST/QST is calculated. Under this treatment, the prize base has a CAD $0 taxable amount and CAD $0 tax. For the included number only, a separate CAD $0.75 monthly E911 promotional waiver is also intended, without third-party reimbursement; its pre-tax treatment has been approved by the Sponsor for implementation but is still subject to independent accounting and legal review. SMB Communications does not obtain third-party reimbursement for the base-service discount. Taxes may still apply to separately priced services, equipment and billable usage, which remain payable by the winner if expressly accepted. There is no automatic paid subscription renewal after the 12-month prize.
The subscription includes: one business phone number; up to four extensions; two simultaneous inbound calls and two simultaneous outbound calls; a hosted SMB phone system; auto attendant; ring groups; voicemail; business-hours routing; and customer portal access. The prize includes the base monthly Small Office subscription and one $0.75 monthly E911 access fee associated with the included business phone number for all 12 covered periods. Fees for extra numbers and their E911 access remain outside the prize. The E911 consent and address-registration requirements still apply even when its fee is waived. After the winner completes eligibility, coverage, E911 and service-terms requirements, the prize is scheduled to start on the next future monthly billing-day boundary for the customer's existing account (billing day 1–28), not on the draw date or automatically on selection. The exact start date and exclusive expiry date must be confirmed in the winner's acceptance documents before activation. The prize covers 12 complete, consecutive billing cycles beginning on the verified service/prize activation date; no partial cycle is counted as a prize month and no paid thirteenth cycle is authorized.
Winner tax reporting: A winning business is responsible for assessing whether and how the prize must be reported for income-tax purposes and whether any GST/HST input tax credit, Quebec QST input tax refund, business-expense deduction or employee taxable benefit applies to its circumstances. These outcomes depend on the recipient's activities, registration, documentation and actual business or personal use. SMB Communications does not promise a matching expense deduction, automatic tax recovery, or a net-zero income-tax result. Winners should seek independent Canadian tax advice.
Not included and paid by the winner where applicable: E911 access fees for additional telephone numbers beyond the single included business number; taxes on separately taxable charges (not on the fully discounted contest base under the proposed treatment); chargeable long-distance calls; separately priced services; compatible telephone equipment or hardware; sufficient Internet service; and charges for usage that is expressly and objectively chargeable under the published Fair Use Policy and customer retail rate schedule. The Fair Use Policy does not set a fixed monthly minute cap or an undisclosed excess-minutes fee. Any separately chargeable usage must have a published rate/trigger and be expressly accepted in the service/billing terms before such usage is enabled. Wholesale carrier rates are not customer rates. The winner is free to obtain compatible equipment and Internet access from any provider and is not required to purchase these from SMB.
The selected entrant must be given the applicable VoIP service terms, emergency calling/9-1-1 limitations and disclosures, fair-use terms, customer retail rate schedule and applicable charges before consenting to activation. Selection or entering does not authorize service activation, automatic payment or billing. No cash equivalent, transfer, substitution or automatic paid renewal is offered, subject to any non-waivable statutory rights.
7. Notification, seven-day response and skill test
The potential winner will be notified using the business email supplied for the verified entry. The Sponsor will keep an auditable record of the email notification, its status and the response deadline. The potential winner must respond within seven (7) calendar days after the notification is sent and begin verification/acceptance; submitting a timely response is enough to preserve the initial claim deadline, even when the Sponsor takes longer to verify eligibility, coverage or service activation. Undeliverable email, resending and alternate selection must follow the published, consistently applied notification policy; an internal queued email is not automatically proof of recipient delivery.
Before confirmation and award, the potential winner must demonstrate business eligibility and authority; pass objective service-coverage verification; answer a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question correctly, without assistance; and expressly accept the necessary service and billing terms. An accessible alternative presentation of the skill question must be available where needed, without changing its substantive requirements. The Sponsor may request reasonable supporting documentation, with appropriate confidentiality safeguards. A potential winner who does not meet these requirements may be passed over in favour of an alternate according to these Rules.
8. Privacy, publicity and communications
Personal information is used for entry and verification, draw integrity, business eligibility, administration, fraud prevention, notification and prize fulfillment, subject to the separate bilingual Contest Privacy Notice available with these Rules. Entry does not provide marketing consent. Marketing preferences are optional and may be withdrawn without affecting contest eligibility.
After the business has been verified and accepted the prize, the Sponsor may separately ask for explicit permission to publish the winning business name only. Refusing or withdrawing publicity permission does not affect the prize. The Sponsor will not publish the representative's name, service address, telephone number or email address based on contest publicity consent.
9. Administration, technical issues and rights
The Sponsor may investigate suspected fraud, duplicate entries, technical faults or materially erroneous eligibility evidence using documented, fair procedures. If a technical problem affects entry availability, draws or notifications, the Sponsor will preserve available audit records, notify affected participants when appropriate, and take a proportionate corrective action consistent with applicable law, without selecting winners in an arbitrary or undisclosed manner. Material changes to the contest will be communicated in both English and French through the contest page before taking effect, where permitted. Complaints and correction requests may be sent in writing to the Sponsor's business address; privacy matters to privacy@tryvoip.ca.
This contest is subject to applicable federal and provincial laws. Nothing in these Rules excludes or limits mandatory statutory rights, including rights applicable to Quebec residents. Both English and French versions must be made available on equally favourable terms.
